Ghana–Burkina Faso free-roaming agreement: how to communicate a cross-border service change

The communications regulators of Ghana and Burkina Faso signed a memorandum of understanding on free roaming in November 2025, according to Ghana’s National Communications Authority. Cross-border arrangements of this kind need careful public explanation because customers often hear “free roaming” and assume every call, message and data session will cost nothing.

Communication teams should publish a simple eligibility table covering participating networks, start dates, fair-use conditions, supported services and customer-support routes. Prices and exclusions should sit beside the headline benefit, not behind a vague link. Front-line agents need the same definitions used by corporate spokespeople.

Before launch, test the customer journey from both sides of the border and prepare examples in plain English. Where possible, provide versions in languages used by affected communities and by cross-border traders.
