In August 2025, Ghana’s National Communications Authority said it had suspended nine radio stations for regulatory infractions after a grace period. The enforcement notice is a useful case study for media owners and the organisations that depend on broadcast partnerships.
A licence issue can become an audience-trust issue within hours. Stations need an escalation route linking legal, engineering, programming, commercial and communications teams. Partners and advertisers also need a contingency plan: who confirms whether a station is on air, how campaign inventory will be moved, and how listeners will be informed without speculating about the regulator’s decision.
Good crisis language distinguishes an order, a response and an eventual resolution. It states what is known, what is being reviewed and when the next update will come. It should not attack regulators or imply reinstatement before written confirmation.
